Sandwiched between the ascents and river trips of summer and the thrillingly snowy descents of the winter, fall is a bit of a secret season in Jackson Hole, WY –a brief respite of slow and golden days, ranging wildlife, and new excursions into the outdoors. I just came back from a visit to this great Western American town, hosting a trunk show at Belle Cose, but also took time to enjoy the local wonders of this magical place. My favorite things to do in Jackson include walks to see the Aspen leaves turning yellow, orange and red, witnessing the herd’s migration down the Snake River Ranch, and visiting with close friends.
Our Belle Cose Jewelry Trunk Show also coincided with the Fall Arts Festival which is a great gathering of local artists and makers. Jackson’s artists tend to be greatly inspired by the Grand Tetons – how could they not? The local surroundings are magnificent! Apart from the stunning landscape, however, the area is also home to a globally renowned symphony, museums, an active local theater community and the unique National Museum of Wildlife Art. As an artist, I also take great inspiration from the Nature that surrounds me – in my case, the sea, the waves, the presence of water (check out my Wave Collection!)
Now it’s Fall, the days are a bit shorter and the air is a bit cooler, but a visit to this town never disappoints. The local restaurants are celebrating the changing season, ice tea is giving way to Tumeric Latte's at Persephone Bakery, my favorite spot! – What better way to end a day at Belle Cose Boutique, than hiking up the hill before sunset to look for Wolves and seeing Bison, Elk, and Pronghorn, Or taking a boat ride out on Lake Jackson. But a boat trip down the Snake River for a day of Fly fishing was nothing short of Spectacular. Of course, the fact that I actually caught few Trout ( catch and release) made it even more exciting!! There are several great local fly fishing companies that organize 1/2 and full-day guided trips and can make even a novice like me feel like at ease with the rod! The occasional trip south of town to Granite Hot Springs is warranted to warm-up and soothe aching muscles in their swimming and soaking pool formed by a natural hot spring. For those in search of a true exception Jackson Hole experience, I recommend contacting Fly Jackson Hole for the aerial, bird’s eye view of the valley. It's one of those special places that will stay in yours. Don't forget to make a visit to one of the 5 Belle Cose Store in Jackson. The one on the Town Square has a lower level that is a Chef's paradise, and when you leave Belle Cose, The Snake River Grill is right next door for dinner!!
